MAW-Mail E-mail ListMembers of the Mycological Association of Washington may join the MAW-Mail e-mail list. This purpose of this list is to discuss MAW activities and the mushroom scene in the Washington DC area. You can subscribe to the list by sending an e-mail to: MAW-Mail-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You need not include any message text. If you wish to use the more advanced features of the MAW-Mail website, you will need to sign up for a free Yahoo account. If you already have a Yahoo account, you will need to link that account to MAW-Mail. Either action can be accomplished by clicking the button below.
Members of both the mailing list and Yahoo may view the list archives by clicking on "My Groups" at http://groups.yahoo.com/ after signing into Yahoo. What’s an e-mail list? For those of you not familiar with e-mail lists (also known as listservers), a short description is in order. Simply put, a listserver provides a means of automatically making copies of an e-mail message and distributing them to a large number of people, each of whom have signed up ("subscribed") to receive such messages. This way, a group of people can have an extended on-line "conversation" about some shared topic of interest. Listservers also provide a means of distributing announcements to the group of subscribers. There are numerous ways the MAW-Mail list can be used. Examples include mushroom fruiting alerts, foray announcements, recipe exchanges, postings of (or links to) interesting mushroom-related news items or articles, announcements of outside events of interest to MAW members, bragging about finds, etc. MAW-Mail Usage Guidelines:
